Privacy Policy

Criers is an app for seeing which friends are free right now and saying hello. It is built to know as little about you as possible. This page describes everything it stores, in plain language.

What we store

Criers stores only what's needed to run the app:

• Your username and display name — so friends can find and recognize you.
• Your date of birth — only to confirm you're old enough to use Criers. It is never shown to anyone.
• Your friend list, friend requests, and blocks — so the app works.
• Your current note and availability — visible to your friends while you're free. Your note history is private to you alone; friends only ever see your latest note.
• Your profile photo, if you choose to add one.

What we never collect

• No phone number and no contact list — Criers never asks for access to your contacts.
• No email address collected by Criers. You sign in with Apple, which confirms your identity without sharing your personal details with us.
• No location tracking. If you share a place in a chat, you choose it explicitly, it's part of that conversation only, and the link expires.
• No advertising identifiers, no analytics profiles, no tracking across other apps or websites.

Messages

Messages are end-to-end encrypted. We can't read them, and they're deleted from our servers 24 hours after they're read. Messaging is only possible between friends who are both marked as free — availability is a boundary the server enforces, not a suggestion.

Who can see what

Your availability and current note are visible only to friends you've accepted, and only while you've set yourself free. There is no public profile, no user directory, and no way to search for people beyond typing an exact username.

Selling data & ads

We never sell your data or show you ads. There is nothing more to say about this, which is the point.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account any time in Settings. Deletion is immediate and removes your profile, friendships, notes, and messages from our servers. There is no retention period and no "come back later" copy of your data.

Where your data lives

Criers runs on Supabase infrastructure hosted on AWS. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so in the app before the change takes effect.
